Jeff Carreira & Katherine Miller
Title: Revolutionary Webcasting
About Me:
About Jeff:
In November of 1992 I (Jeff) met Andrew Cohen for the first time when he was teaching in Somerville, MA. Six months later I along with a small group of people founded the EnlightenNext Center in Cambridge Ma. You can read all of the details of my life in a series of blog posts on my personal blog. Since then I have taken on several responsibilities for EnlightenNext (the non-profit organization that supports Andrew Cohen’s work) and currently act as Andrew Cohen’s personal assistant and the director of education of EnlightenNext.
I don’t remember when exactly I met Katherine Miller. She met Andrew a couple of years before I did and was already living in the main community of Andrew’s students in Marin County, CA by the time I cam on the scene. I have several amalgamated memories of her over the course of about a decade, but I do distinctly remember the time period that I now recognize as the beginning of our teaching partnership.
It was early in 2001 and Katherine had just come off of a few months of being on a meditation retreat and had begum to prepare meals again as the head chef in the kitchen at Foxhollow where Andrew Cohen’s work is headquartered. I had completed a similar retreat a few months before and evidently Katherine and I had both had similarly powerful experiences because any time she and I would talk we both entered into an enlightened state of consciousness. I found myself visiting her in the kitchen several times a day for a quick dharma discussion and awakened high.
Our mutual interest in awakened consciousness and similar experiences of higher states created the foundation over which Katherine and I have grown closer through the trials and tribulations of pursuing Evolutionary Enlightenment. Katherine grew to be a true friend and comrade – my sister in what Andrew Cohen calls, The Universe Project.
When I began the Evolutionary Enlightenment teacher training program last year Katherine was one of the first people that came to my mind as someone I wanted to train to teach. As she tells the story she was also independently moved by an irrational compulsion to become a teacher of Evolutionary Enlightenment.
Over the past year we have taught together several times and more recently have used conference calls and now the internet to help people understand Evolutionary Enlightenment and become part of the creation of a new culture based on awakened consciousness.
I hope you will listen to our next webcast,
About Katherine:
The path leading to this adventure in evolutionary web casting with Jeff Carreira has had so many twists and turns that there is no way I could have foreseen the trajectory of this past year. Many things happened that made this a year like no other, but learning to teach the Evolutionary Enlightenment course and becoming a teaching partner with Jeff are at the top of that list.
The real beginning to the path started after I discovered Andrew Cohen almost 17 years ago – it felt like my whole life had been leading up to that point and that I finally started living for real. I remember very well when I first met Jeff :) at a long retreat in Bodhgaya in 1996. I had a teenage daughter and he worked with delinquent kids so we hit it off great. But it was our mutual experience of consciousness after having been on long silent retreats that we connected most deeply in. After all those trials and tribulations Jeff spoke about I started to realize that what Andrew had been saying all along was true, this is not a personal path of awakening or development but the evolution of consciousness itself through us. When the opportunity to learn how to teach the introductory course in Evolutionary Enlightenment came up I indeed had a very irrational (but entirely authentic!) response – I have to do this. Everything we have done together since then has been in alignment with this irrational response…..
Looking back it’s clear that this partnership in conscious evolution is the product of the evolutionary process itself. I also think it’s significant and important that we are able to work so closely together and yet have our own independent experience and interest in the topics we cover in the seminars and on the calls. In light of our mission to create a new culture by awakening consciousness our ability to work together in an absolute context in which we are continually developing is the first step…
I would love to have you on our next webcast - feel free to invite all your friends,
Katherine
